In the performances the dancers enact scenes from the 15th to the 19th century, each with their own character and style. In renaissance scenes graceful maidens and slender youths perform elegant bassa danzas and saltarellos at the 15th century court of Lorenzo de Medici. Self-confident dancers with the broad-shouldered silhouettes of the proud rulers of the16th century show their virtuosity in jumps and variations, trying to impress their partners. The relaxed and exuberant joie de vivre of the Dutch Golden Age is displayed in 17th century scenes and dances. Baroque dances express the refined elegance of the Sun King and his entourage: minuet, gigue and bourrée are brought to life. Finally, there is the 19th century, with its waltz, polka and galop maniacs taking over the ballrooms of Paris and Vienna. For the first time in history man and woman could be seen dancing together, face to face, closely entwined....
STOUD produces shows on its own initiative as well as on commission. In the case of commissioned productions, the length of the performance, the specific period and the number of dancers are decided on in close consultation with the client. Clients may opt for an existing show; highlights of these are available on video. On request new scripts may be written for special occasions.
